Love One Another

Our church sign speaks of this:

Jesus didn’t say love those who love you, nor did He say love those who agree with you, nor did He say love those who look like you, act like you, etc.  What Jesus did say was this:

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us LOVE ONE ANOTHER

There are those who won’t love if you don’t agree with them, or don’t adopt their lifestyle, or don’t eat what they eat, or… well, a host of other things.  In fact, some will hate a person if that person, in any way, contradicts them or disagrees with them.  Somehow I am always brought back to Jesus’ words:

No qualifications, no complicated formula, no list of “do’s and don’ts” to follow in order to achieve the place where we are able to love one another.  No, all Jesus said was to do it.  Period.  In other words, if you don’t like someone’s point of view, then you better agree to disagree – and love them.  If you don’t get your own way, then you better realize that what happened might not have anything to do with you and everything to do with what God wants to happen.

It’s about loving despite the pain it might bring, or the inconvenience that might come about, or even the persecution you might endure.  It’s about loving all people, all the time, all over the world – and that’s a LOT of people, and a LOT of loving!

Love one another.  Period.

’nuff said, don’t you think!
